How it works

1. Choose one or two certificates
   Select the option that matches the number of marriage certificates you would like legalised.

2. Send us your original documents
   We provide instructions on how to send your original marriage certificate or certificates to us.

3. We arrange the apostille
   Once your documents arrive, we personally submit them to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs for apostille legalisation and collect them afterwards.

4. Receive your legalised documents
   We return your documents together by tracked courier to your chosen address.

Do you need an apostille?

You may need an apostille when presenting your Danish marriage certificate abroad—for example, when registering your marriage or applying for a spouse visa. An apostille confirms that your certificate originates from a Danish public authority.

An apostille is generally not required when presenting a Danish marriage certificate to public authorities in another EU country. However, this exemption does not cover every situation, and different requirements may apply when presenting documents to private organisations or using them outside the scope of the EU rules.

Countries outside the Apostille Convention may require additional legalisation. Before ordering, please confirm the requirements with the authority or organisation receiving your certificate.

When can you book?

You can use our service immediately after your wedding or years later. You do not need to have booked your wedding through Copenhagen Weddings.

The receiving authority may have requirements concerning the age of your certificate, so please check these before sending your documents.

Processing and delivery

Processing begins once we receive your original documents. We will advise you of the expected timeframe when you book. Courier delivery time depends on the destination and is additional to the legalisation process.

Our service covers the number of certificates selected when ordering. The two-certificate option includes one combined return shipment.
