Booking Your Wedding
To get married at Copenhagen City Hall, you must first submit a Notice of Marriage (ægteskabserklæring) to the Danish Agency of Family Law.
Once approved, you will receive access to the booking system where you can choose your wedding date and time.
Please note:
Copenhagen is very popular, and during peak seasons, waiting times can be up to 3 months.
The Ceremony – What to Expect
Your ceremony will be simple, elegant, and meaningful.
- Duration: approximately 5 minutes
- A registrar will guide you through the ceremony
- You will say “I do”
- Optional: exchange rings and short personal vows
- Afterward, you sign the official documents
Two witnesses are always provided by the City Hall at no extra cost, but you are welcome to bring your own.
Guests & Practical Details
- Up to 75 guests allowed (including children & photographer)
- Witnesses must be 18+ (no ID required)
- Please arrive 10–15 minutes early
- Follow the heart symbols on the floor to find the Wedding Hall

Ceremonies can be conducted in:

If you need another language, you must bring your own interpreter.
Marriage Certificate
After your ceremony, you will receive two international marriage certificates, valid worldwide and issued in multiple languages:
Danish, English, German, French, and Spanish.

Accessibility
The Wedding Hall is located on the first floor without elevator access.
If needed, ceremonies can be arranged in the Great Hall on ground level — please inform the Wedding Office at least one week in advance.
